Ongoing arrangement of asphalt concrete courses at Sections 7-8 of M-11 Moscow - Saint Petersburg Highway

Arrangement of asphalt base and binder courses is ongoing at some stretches of Sections 7-8 of M-11 Moscow - Saint Petersburg Highway.  The works are ongoing in Novgorod and Leningrad Regions at a 25-kilometer stretch of the Highway.

As of today, 1 100 000 m2 of base asphalt course have been already arranged on a 50-kilometer stretch of the Highway. The binder course of 500 000 m2 in total has been arranged on an 18-kilometer stretch of the Highway. 


In May 2016, a trial laying of asphalt concrete mix, designed by road construction specialists, was carried out. The works were carried out in order to define the laying method allowing to obtain the required compaction level, as it directly influences the strength and service life of the asphalt concrete pavement.


The road pavement at Sections 7-8 of M-11 Highway includes five courses with total thickness of 112 cm, three of which will be made of asphalt concrete: asphalt base course - 13 cm, binder course - 8 cm, wearing course - 6 cm.
