Speeding at 130 km/h may be allowed on M-11 Highway

The Traffic Police of Russia and “Russian Highways” State Company are discussing a possibility to increase the maximum speed allowed at some federal highways. The speed limit at Moscow - St. Petersburg M-11 Highway may amount to 130 km/h along its entire length.

Moskva City News Agency cites Alexander Tselkovnev, the Deputy Head of the Management Board of “Russian Highways” State Company: “After M-11 Highway is put into operation, we will inspect its safety conditions in terms of possibility to allow increasing of the speed limit. Afterwards we will hold a discussion with the Traffic Police and will take decision to increase the speed limit by 20 km/h, i.e. up to 130 km/h”.

It is to be recalled that the design of M-11 Highway allows for a speed limit of 150 km/h.
